Food Coma on Christmas Eve
(24 December 2015, Thursday)
It’s Christmas Eve! Actually, it’s just another day for me since I don’t celebrate Christmas.
Met up with bro, picked up my Sony Xperia Z3 from Somerset 313, and headed to Nihon Mura @ Cathay Cineleisure for a late lunch! It was really quiet at Nihon Mura Express when we arrived at around 3:30pm, with empty seats and a queue outside.
Wait, what? Empty seats and still a queue?
Yeah, I think it was terribly short staffed, since we were kept waiting for 10-15 minutes while we wondered why we weren’t being seated. The service staff didn’t even clean up the tables that were vacated.
Ok nevermind. I don’t expect too much whenever I eat at this kinda place anyway, but they should change their name. It's not really "express"... unless you eat only from the conveyor belt.
My bro and I racked up a total of S$24.48 (after GST and service charge) for 13 plates. Each plate was S$1.60.
The bro and I wandered around. We came across a couple of performers on the street. They were supposed to be jugglers, but we didn’t get to see any juggling because they spent forever just talking, embarrassing a volunteer, and making slap stick jokes.
In the end, we left because buggers kept squeezing in front of us and blocking our view. What’s worse, bro got stepped on and pushed. I even asked someone to duck a little so that bro and I can see, but he didn’t give a damn. Ugh.
It was hot, and we just needed someplace that isn’t teeming with humans (although tiny humans aka babies are cute), so we hopped on the train and went straight to Buona Vista!
Yassss! It was deserted lol.
Curry Chicken Omelette Rice (S$13.90)
Corn Soup (S$3.90)
Curry Chicken Tonkatsu Rice (S$14.90)
Peach Lemon Tea (S$3.20)
Miso Soup (??)
Mini Salad (??)
Total bill after GST and service charge: ~S$40
I think bro got the set meal… probably gotta add S$5 to his main course for the drink, soup and salad.
We know we should stop eating, but bro wanted ice cream... so time for Gelare!
Afterwards, I realised that Gelare has lots of bad reviews on their Facebook page… but meh, the one at Star Vista was okay, probably because it wasn’t very busy.
Bro ordered, so idk what we had. Some basic scoop of raspberry something or the other with chocolate syrup and nuts. Not worth S$7.90, but what to do… food in sg is priced like that.
Totally in a food coma by this time… food wasn’t fantastic, but the main thing is that the company was fun, and I was happy to catch up with bro!
