Singapore Philatelic Store @ GPO Launches Brand New Festive Collection X Sanrio Collab!

Christmas is here! Well, not really, but stores are already beginning to play Christmas songs, so we're all going to get into a festive mood whether we like it or not.

It's best to start looking for gifts early, so I hope this post will be of some help to you- the Philatelic Store @ GPO just launched their festive collection, and I was invited down for a tour last week!

A big thank you to the Sample Store and SingPost for the invite!

It was an eye opener, to see the comprehensive stamp collections curated at this store, as well as the extensive range of items offered here, which ranges from practical gifts like notepads and tote bags to collectibles like plush toys and Lego figurines.

As you may have already guessed, the Philatelic Store is owned and operated by Singapore Post (SingPost).

It's more than just stamps- every item that can be found here has its own special moment in the history of our nation.

Even the bright red posting boxes found in the shop are legit pieces of history- they were restored from the colonial era! All mail dropped into the posting box will be postmarked with a special date stamp in red ink.  Major #throwback #soinstagrammable

I found that this makes for a more interesting visit down to the GPO, don't you agree?

If you're not into history, these philatelic items can make great gifts for someone you know. It could be a colleague, a friend,  or philatelist who would love to have it for their personal collection.

Here's SingPost representative Peggy welcoming us to the event, and if you're wondering what's with the adorable Sanrio characters on that item in the bottom left-hand corner, well, read on till the end!

Peggy shared that SingPost received requests for gift ideas that would be more substantial, seeing as how the mere size of most stamps simply feel too insignificant and possibly, insincere. That's how these framed stamps came about!

These frames comes with local tableware to showcase the gorgeous designs that inspired the look of the stamp included.

The commemorative value and exquisite designs of the collections make them perfect for all occasions. In fact, many a businessman and political delegate have gifted or received such meaningful gifts, but anyone could own one.

There's also items from the Philatelic Store @GPO Exclusives range, which means you can't get them anywhere else! These range from the practical to cute collectibles, and are priced from S$5 onwards.

Full list of items in the Posting Boxes of Singapore Collection are: Pouch, Tote Bag, Cushion Cover and Tea Towel. The SingPost Postman and Postwoman Mini Figurines Collection retails at S$28 each or $50 for a set of 2.

If you prefer items that throwback to Singapore's culture, have a look at premium gifts under the Local Delights Collection for items like the Traditional Biscuits Magnets Set & Greetings Cards, or the Local Delights Tea Towel with MyStamp Sheet & Greeting Cards.

The Collection also include a series of beautifully designed magnets, name card holders, and more, priced from S$8.90 and above.

The traditional biscuit set is the best idea imo. They're so relatable and super cute!

And of course, stamps! It's worth a visit to view the extensive collection of stamps. You can find Singapore & Foreign Stamps, Thematic MyStamp (i.e. stamps with themes), souvenirs and philatelic gifts that are available exclusively in-store.

See the pic below for stamp collections categorised neatly for the avid philatelist to enjoy, or for the curious to view. My fav is the 150th Anniversary of First Postage Stamp Issued in Singapore, as pictured in the 2nd photo!

In the beginning of this post, I mentioned the festive collection, which is great for your own personal use or as gifts, especially since the festive season is almost upon us. Here's what you can expect from this collection!

Just look at the miniature posting boxes on the right side of the pic! Aren't they just so darling? I'm also quite into their spacious tote bags- thank you SingPost for giving us all one! My Bighead came along and purchased a classic brown satchel (retails at S$25).

There's the more economical option in GPO's Festive Gift Ideas on items such as notepads, pouches and plush toys with philately designs that cost S$5 to S$10.

This is a cute notepad!
I actually bought the adorable Kai Kai plushie you see below. It's $5, and the stamp on Kai Kai's shirt is hand drawn by local artiste (now artist) Edmund Chen! Artwork by Edmund Chen is also featured on t-shirts sold at this GPO.

I've heard of and seen products by Singapore Post in collaboration with other brands, but I had no idea that it was as extensive as it was. In just the shop alone, I could see Marvel, Sanrio and even our nation's (borrowed) cutie pies Kai Kai and Le Le on various items!

In fact, the Thematic MyStamp that I want to introduce to you is the Changi Mystical Garden with Sanrio Characters! It's in one of the very first pics of this blog post hehe.

It's a stamp folder, comes with a lanyard and retails at S$21.80. I took the first pic below from the Singpost website, which best shows all the items, lanyard and all.

That's also why these cuties were at the event!

Gudetama the gormless egg hahaha

Who's your favourite Sanrio character? ^^

This Sanrio-themed MyStamp is a perfect gift for someone who's into such cutesy characters, and I'm sure kids and adults alike will be happy to own one! You can also get foreign and local stamps to fill it in with, starting with the latest collection of emoji Merlion!

National Stamps, including the Annual Collection 2017, are also available for sale from S$1.60 onwards- "Greetings" Stamp (Mint Stamps and First Day Cover for only 15 November 2017) and Postcards.

This visit was like of a throwback to my childhood abroad, of waiting in line with my mom to post letters to our relatives living in Singapore. And I can never forget the time when I started my own online shop- I became a regular at various post offices in Singapore, for obvious reasons!

Except they didn't have a Christmassy photobooth then, like they had for this event hehehe

Again, thank you to the Sample Store and SingPost for inviting me to this event, and also to Brunches Cafe for providing the tasty food! The chicken was my fav, but I wished I ate before the event instead of after, because the food had turned cold.

Brunches Cafe is the latest Chic Vintage Themed Bakery Cafe along Rangoon Road (in the neighbourhood of Farrer Park MRT), and they serve an All-day Breakfast Menu, gourmet sandwiches, waffles, coffee, tea and other beverages to cafe-goers. Find out more at

You can participate in this game of luck when you're there, too!

And yes, there's a General Post Office right there, where regular mailing services are offered. There's even a POPStation, a registered article self-drop box and SAM Machines.

There's lots of food options too, so go on and explore the SingPost Centre!

To shop the philatelic items, visit or the Philatelic Store @ GPO. The store is located at #01-127 to 128 at the heart of SingPost Centre (next to Paya Lebar MRT station), the General Post Office.
