BIODERMA 2-in-1 Moisturising Anti-UV Mist (Eau de soin SPF 30) Review

I was recently invited to do a write-up for the Sample Store about my 5 beauty secrets, and one of the “secrets” that I chose to share was how I protect myself from the effects of the sun’s harmful rays as part of my skincare routine.

And… Bioderma sent me the Hydrabio Eau De Sion SPF 30 PA+++. Such great timing!

I’ve been tested it for the last few days in Singapore, and I’m pleased to find that it’s a hypoallergenic product which agrees with my slightly sensitive skin!

The Hydrobio is essentially a water-based sunscreen, but what makes it interesting is that it’s also filled with anti-oxidant complex and has hydrating properties.

Yes, this means that it has UV protection and is a moisturising mist!

In fact, it’s the first product that contains both anti-oxidising and hydrating properties! This is especially great if you have dehydrated, dry skin, or if you work in a dry, air-conditioned environment.

Being a water-based formula, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily after application. The best part? It’s a spray bottle, so an even application is pretty much guaranteed.

A sunscreen spray is also convenient for re-application. As you may know, sunscreen should be reapplied throughout the day, but I usually skip that as it’s inconvenient, especially if I’m out all day long.

The Hydrabio sunscreen can even be layered on top of makeup. Bioderma has revealed that this product has multiple uses as a sunscreen, moisturizer and makeup setting spray, so you’re really getting your money’s worth!

Let me break down the reasons why I think this is a great product to add to (or start) your sun protection arsenal:

Key Feature 1- SPF in Water

Bioderma’s Hydrabio Eau de Soin doesn’t require you to get your hands dirty- just spray and let it set into a non-sticky finish!

As an added bonus, it also contains Cellular Bioprotection to prevent damage to your skin’s immune system, so that you might delay the effects of aging! (I’d advise you to start on this from your early 20’s if you don’t want wrinkles early.)

Key Feature 2- Deeply Hydrating Water

Highly purified water is enriched to provide hydration, but that’s not what I found impressive.

This is powered by the Aquagenium patent, which plays a part in repairing your skin barrier, retain moisture and restore your skin’s water circulation. Now that is impressive!

Key Feature 3 – Diffusion Technique

Remember how I said that this sunscreen doesn’t feel sticky? It’s because of the superfine spray pump. You’ll notice it when you try it- the mist is incredibly light. Bioderma recommends 4 sprays per use to get enough coverage!

No worries, this spray has no effect on your clothes, so spray away!

It’s environmentally friendly as well, since it’s also an air-free pump bottle.

Here’s a before-and-after comparison. You’ll notice that there is no oily shine to my face after application.

Left: Before | Right: After

That’s quite a lot of information to take in! So here’s the TR;DR:

Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin uses patented technology to create the first 2-in-1 hydrating mist that can simply be sprayed on to prevent ageing, protects your skin’s immune system and is also friendly to our environment!

You can use this as the last step of your morning skincare routine, just to re-hydrate your skin throughout the day or set your makeup- all while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays!

I spray it on my face and neck. Please don’t neglect your neck, guys! It’s not a pretty look to have a wrinkly neck. Singapore is extremely hot and sunny, as you well know, so sun protection is a must!

Pictorial instructions are stated on the bottle, but I’ll share directions on usage here as well:

Step 1: Shake Well

Step 2: Spray 20cm away from your face

Step 3: Spray 4 times per use

Step 4: Leave to dry, no need to spread

For those of you who are interested in the ingredients, you might like to know that this doesn’t contain parabens, alcohols and fragrance.

For those of you who are prone to clogged pores and acne like me, you’d be happy to know that this is non-comedogenic! This means it’s suitable for you and doesn’t clog pores.

Let me know if you try it!
