Eyebrow Embroidery Experience at La Vida | Annaxiu Reviews

We're talking about eyebrows today! I'm going to share with you about my experience with brow embroidery- the good, the bad and everything in between!

Also, there's an ongoing promotion as well as a promo code for Annaxiu readers, so read on!

If you've followed me on Instagram, you might've noticed that I'm not that shy about posting barefaced pictures.

You might have also noticed that I have very sparse eyebrows! See how they all but disappear in bright sunlight?

Even if I don't apply any foundation, I try to do my brows. It makes me look more awake and put-together!

So when I heard about the Deluxe Creative Brows embroidery service at LA VIDA™, I was excited to try it! It's a semi-permanent makeup service, meaning the effects will stay for a few months, depending on how you maintain it/your skin type.

In early December 2018, I visited their outlet at Choa Chu Kang and had my brows done.

I've been monitoring the condition of my brows since then, and now I'm here to share with you about it!

Of course, I had to take before and after pics. Here's the before. Please excuse how I look borderline alien-like with my nearly invisible eyebrows.

The first step is to cleanse the brow area and add numbing cream. The LA VIDA™ brow specialist assured me that I shouldn't feel a thing, thanks to this numbing cream!

Next, the brow specialist trimmed my eyebrow. (It's harder than it looks to take a selfie while trying to hold still!)

Best bring something to entertain yourself with, since this numbing cream has to sit for 30 minutes or so! I entertained myself with silly selfies, doing some work on my laptop and drinking their complementary red date drink! Yummy and healthy!

After the shape of my brow is groomed neatly, the brow specialist used an eyebrow pencil to design the shape of my brows. She told me to take my time to carefully examine the brows before she started the actual procedure, since it's semi-permanent.

I'm a fussy person, so I asked her to adjust the shape of my brows a little here and there. Thank you for being so patient!

Finally, we were ready for the brow embroidery!

I was strongly advised to not take pictures during the procedure, as I had to hold absolutely still. Let me explain how this works.

LA VIDA™brow specialists will use a micro-blade to make small incisions within the design they drew in the step above. This is how the end effect will look as if I'd magically grew a whole bunch of perfectly aligned brow hair!

Here's a close-up taken from La Vida's website, so you can see it better! They also do eyelash extensions, facials and other beauty services.

After the micro-blading, a setting "ink" is applied to darken the colour. The colour might be a few shades darker than your natural brows, as it will fade in the coming days as your skin heals. I opted to have a lighter shade, as per the brow specialist's recommendation.

Read on as I reveal the end results and share about the healing process in the weeks that follow!

And... viola!

See how natural and 3D the end result is!

The entire micro-blading hurt quite a fair bit, tbh! The brow specialist took some time to design my brows + I asked her to adjust the design. By the time she got to my second brow, the numbing cream had begun to wear off!

I loved how she was meticulous in making sure my brows looked as even as possible! She even removed one part that I didn't like (you can only do this before the setting "ink" is applied).

Lastly, a soothing gel is applied with a q-tip (i.e. cotton bud)!

After-care tips are provided in Chinese and English.

Boy did it feel good! My brow area was stinging!

(Sorry about the not-so-pretty thumb btw.)

The soothing gel that LA VIDA™ uses contains gold flakes. I wasn't able to properly capture it, but take my word for it!

Was brow embroidery worth it? Well, for just 1 hour of my time, I get brows on fleek for weeks to come! I'd say it was worth it for me.

But let me break it down, so you can decide if you want to go for it too!

BENEFITS OF BROW EMBROIDERY

1. Convenience + perfect brows everyday!

  • Ever since the brow embroidery, I haven't had to draw my eyebrows! The stinging sensation was greatly diminished in just an hour or so, and there was no pain in the days that followed.

2. Saves time on make up routine

  • I take 0 seconds to do my everyday look now, since I usually just apply lip balm on the go!
3. No need to touch up my brows throughout the day!
  • For oily or combination skin girls, this is a big thing. I always carried around my eyebrow pencil to touch up, as the ends of my eyebrows would fade.
4. Very little to no pain (usually)
  • The brow specialist was surprised that I felt pain. Most people felt no pain at all.

DOWNSIDES TO BROW EMBROIDERY

1. COST

  • This can set you back a few hundred dollars, but read on! There's an ongoing promotion for the LA VIDA™ Deluxe Creative Brows embroidery service!
  • However, this is a one-time cost and could last you for a long time.

2. MAINTENANCE

  • You'll have to apply the soothing gel on your brows twice a week. Despite this, you may still see dry skin flaking off your brows as your skin heals.
  • You have to keep your brow area dry for at least the first two weeks to prolong the effect.
I hope this was helpful to you! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at annaxiu7@gmail.com or slide into my DM on IG!

One week later, this was what my brows looked like! Slight flaking, strong-ish colour, zero pain.

This t-shirt was a gift lol

I'm happy to announce that LA VIDA™ is currently running a promotion their highly rated Deluxe Creative Brows embroidery service!

You can get natural looking brows at S$398 (usual price: $1369.60)! This includes a complimentary touch up session. Trust me, you'll want a touch up. It can prolong the effect!

For Annaxiu readers, you'll also get a complimentary facial treatment worth S$204 if you use our promo code "Annaxiu398" when booking the Deluxe Creative Brows service!

If you intend to get it done cheaply elsewhere, do keep in mind:

  • Know the difference- this is the price for the "individual brow effect". The "drawn on brow effect" costs less.
  • You get what you pay for. This is a highly precise procedure that will stay on your face for weeksssss.

Please note that the promotional rate of S$398 applies to all first-time customers (by appointment), 23 years old and above, and is available at all of LA VIDA™ 7 outlets.

    1. Thanks for reading my blog, Mica! Hehe it shouldn't hurt, unless you delayed the process like I did by asking them to adjust the eyebrow stencil multiple times.

Sure, I'd love to! I tried to- let me know if I did it correctly! :)

    1. Hey Carole! Yes I agree, the price is a little steep, especially when compared to my $5 eyebrow pencil! I do think it's worth the splurge if you need your eyebrows to look great everyday and you dont have the time to do it everyday. I'm a frontline staff member so it's important for my "work appearance"! Btw I just saw your blog- love your confident style pics! :)
